MATERIALS

The outer fabric is a 100% cotton quilting fabric called Timeless Treasures Musical Music Sheets from fabric.com. The lining is also 100% cotton and is either unbleached muslin, white quilting cotton, or black poplin depending on the size of the mask. The straps are made out of a cotton blend knit chosen for stretch, softness, and durability. All masks can be machine washed and dried with the rest of your laundry.

ABOUT THE CREATOR:

Julie Sindora, creator of the masks, is an Edmonds, WA based homemaker, wife, and mother of two energetic boys. She blogs at Build, Sew, Reap about all things creative. When COVID hit the Seattle area, Julie, being an avid seamstress, felt the call to contribute in a meaningful way. After first using patterns and methods she found online, she developed her own process based on available materials, what her sewing machines could do best, as well as how she could best use her eager sons’ abilities. To date, they have made more than 2500 masks, donating or selling more than half of those at or below cost. For those that have been sold beyond cost, she has asked that people merely pay what they can, ensuring nobody in the community (or beyond) is without necessary face coverings. “Providing this service to my community has given me a sense of purpose in a situation that feels out of control. I’m thankful I have the skills and tools to make masks and am so glad to be able to help keep people safe.”
