Awareness of world cultures
Respect for others
Growth through community.
Bellevue Youth Choirs is comprised of six choir levels—Prelude, Primary, Intermediate, Training, Concert, and Premier — and serves over 130 youth, ages 4-18, from the Bellevue area (Bellevue, Issaquah, Sammamish, Fall City, Newcastle, Renton, Redmond, Kirkland, Medina, Mercer Island).
Choristers learn musicianship, vocal technique, performance skills, and participate in mainstage concerts, outreach and community events, and collaborations with the finest musicians and choral groups.
The auditioned choirs participate in regional choral festivals and tours.
Bellevue Youth Choirs was founded in 2012 as Bellevue Girlchoir by Managing Artistic Director Darcy Morrissey. Soon Bellevue Boychoir was added to the organization, and in 2016 Washington State approved the application for non-profit status under the name Bellevue Youth Choirs.
Interim Artistic Director Melissa Headrick led the choirs during the 2018-19 season, in which the choirs restructured and fully became one entity: Bellevue Youth Choirs, with coed groups up through middle school.
Ms. Headrick stepped down from her interim position in June 2019, and Nicholas Gorne was then hired to lead the choirs as Artistic Direcor.
Statement of Inclusion
Bellevue Youth Choirs embraces diversity and welcomes youth of all races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our program serves our community through music.
"Mom, do you know how my heart was feeling when we were on stage?
It was feeling like this is where I truly belong."
~ Aubriana, Intermediate Chorister
