Every month Bellevue Youth Choirs celebrates chorister birthdays in a special “sibling time,”where singers of all ages join together to celebrate in song!
Above, choristers celebrating September birthdays skip around the circle with Mrs. McIlroy.
The song we sing, adapted from an old Shaker tune, is sung at the end of our meeting:
Siblings now our meeting is over
Siblings we must part
And if I never see you anymore
I’ll love you in my heart
Yes we’ll land on the shore
And we’ll land on the shore
And we’ll sing forevermore
It’s an especially poignant way for BYC singers to be reminded that we are all family, and that although our rehearsal is done for the day, we will continue to sing together. After a year apart, this reminder is so essential.
BYC believes that all youth deserve to be part of our singing family, regardless of their financial circumstances. Although our Scholarship Fund is currently empty, we’ve promised to support 5 students this fall.
Will you contribute to the Scholarship Fund and help us ensure we keep our promise to these students and for any future student in need?
We so appreciate your support!
